Zambo police personnel accept weight lose challenge

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The 7,286 strong uniformed and non-uniformed men and women of the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) have accepted the challenge of the Mission: Slim Possible Program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

They accepted the challenge when the program was launched on Thursday at Camp Col. Romeo Abendan, that houses the PRO-9 headquarters in Barangay Mercedes in this city.

During the launch ceremony, the PRO-9 personnel performed a series of exercises and dances including “Zumba dance” orchestrated by known fitness instructors, who flew all the way from Manila.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, PRO-9 information officer, said the region’s uniformed and non-uniformed personnel vowed to lose 19,460 pounds or roughly 8,845 kilos of weight loss.

The Mission: Slim Possible Program will run for about six months.

It is aimed to develop and maintain the physical fitness of every personnel in the region in order to perform their task efficiently and effectively.

The PNP Mission: Slim Possible was launched on June 13, 2017 at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The PNP has set 500,000 pounds or 227,000 kilos of weight loss target for the entire organization in the country. (PNA)
