CEBU CITY -- The controversial head of the Cebu Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) has been relieved from his post.

Governor Hilario Davide III, who earlier defended the said Baltazar Tribulano, said Monday that he has issued a memorandum ordering the latter’s relief as PENRO officer in charge.

Tribunalo will be replaced by Rodel Bontuyan, who was instructed by Davide to report to Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino for his new assignment.

Tribunalo, however, will continue to serve as chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

To recall, Tribulano’s concurrent PENRO position has been questioned by some within the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

Tribunalo has been hounded by a series of controversies as well, including his assigning of a job order worker to work on his farm and receiving a television set and an air-conditioning unit as goodwill gifts from a private company.

Last week, a female Capitol employee also lodged a complaint before the Provincial Women’s Commission (PWC) accusing him of touching her "private hind part" during a gathering at the Capitol.

The PWC, headed by Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, is currently conducting an investigation behind the sexual harassment complaint.

Tribunalo has continuously denied all the accusations against him. (PNA)
