LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Four youths were killed and four others were hurt when the speeding Honda Civic they were riding crashed into an electric post before overturning and ramming a concrete fence along the highway in Barangay Matalava East here at past 12:00 midnight on Nov. 17 (Friday).

A report quoting P/Supt. Fidel Junio, chief of police, identified two of the fatalities as Michael Angelo Manaoat, driver of the vehicle, and Kevin De Guzman. The two others have yet to be named.

P/Chief Inspector Wilmer Pagaduan, deputy police chief, said they extricated eight persons from the crash site.

The victims, all in their 20s, were rushed by a responding Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council team to the Lingayen District Hospital where the four were declared dead on arrival.

Rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC)  in Dagupan City where they are still confined were Ariel Diaz, Darwin Balo-Balo and two still unidentified victims, all of Sitio Socony, Barangay Salasa in Bugallon, Pangasinan.

Pagaduan said the victims may be going home to Bugallon from Dagupan City, where they had a drinking spree after attending a baptismal party in Bugallon.

A receipt on their charges issued by Music Machine on Perez Boulevard in Dagupan City was found inside the ill-fated Honda Civic.

The accident happened when the victims were returning home to Bugallon, with their vehicle running at a fast clip as indicated in the speed meter, Pagaduan said.

It was learned that the Honda Civic first hit a concrete post on the right side of the road before it overturned to the left side, hitting a concrete fence. (PNA).
