DTI-Antique launches new recipe contest

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique provincial office is launching a contest for new recipes using indigenous raw materials in the province.

Ines Garingalao of DTI Antique said in an interview Friday that the contest encourages Antiquenos to come up with their own innovations belonging to the following categories: rice-based finger food, muscovado-based sweet candies, root crops-based products, fish-based products, and other food products.

She said that the submission of entries will be on or before December 27 at Negosyo Center, DTI Antique Provincial Office here in San Jose de Buenavista.

Judging of entries will be on December 28 with PHP5,000 cash prizes for first place; second place, PHP3,000; third place, PHP2,000. There will be consolation prizes at stake also.

The evaluation criteria would be innovation and originality 30 percent, product characteristic 30 percent, presentation and packaging 20 percent, and over-all consumer value 20 percent. (PNA)
