5.2 magnitude quake jolts Myanmar

YANGON -- An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude jolted Myanmar's Bago region, the Meteorology and Hydrology Department said.

The earthquake struck at 11:25 p.m. local time (16:55:35 GMT) with a depth of 10 kilometers, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The epicenter was 32 kilometers southwest of Phyu city in Bago region and 156 kilometers north of Yangon.

Report on casualties is not yet immediately available.

On January 12, a stronger earthquake of 6.0 magnitude jolted the same Phyu area, followed by several aftershocks. (Bernama)
