MANILA -- Tropical Depression Basyang has traversed the Surigao provinces and Agusan del Norte, and was over Bohol sea as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, said the state weather bureau.
Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains would prevail in the next 24 hours over Palawan and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Administrative Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 2 p.m. bulletin.
Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Bicol, Mindanao, and the rest of Mimaropa. Residents of these areas are advised to continue monitoring for updates, take appropriate measures against flooding and landslides, and coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
Seal travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under tropical cyclone warning signals, as well as the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the Visayas, the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, and the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao due to “Basyang” and the surge of the northeast monsoon.
At 1 p.m. Tuesday, "Basyang’s" center was estimated at 60 km. south of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Earlier, PAGASA anticipated “Basyang” to make landfall by 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday between Surigao and Dinagat.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. (PNA)
