MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato -- Police here arrested Thursday two men for possession of illegal drugs as authorities intensified campaign against prohibited drugs.

Joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 12 (PDEA-12), led by Director Valente Cariño, and Midsayap municipal police office, arrested Satar Sugan alias Sator, 29; and Rodolfo Estalilia, 26, both of Barangay Poblacion 7 here.

Cariño said the two were arrested while on a drinking spree in Barangay Poblacion 4 at past 4 p.m. Thursday. Seized from them were several sachets of suspected shabu and shabu paraphernalia.

The Midsayap police said the two were among those who voluntarily surrendered to police authorities last year during the implementation of Oplan Tokhang (Oplan Knock/Plead) and vowed to do away with illegal drugs.

But police later found out the two resumed their illegal activities in different villages here after the campaign against illegal drugs was removed from local police.

Sator and Estalilia are now detained at a police lock up cell and charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).

In Cotabato City, police also arrested Moner Omar, 31, a pedicab driver, and resident of Mabini Street, for possession of shabu. (PNA)
