SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The memorabilia of the late Antique Governor Evelio B. Javier will be temporarily transferred to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) building here this week because of the retrofitting and rehabilitation job at the old capitol building.

Antique OIC-Governor Edgar Denosta said that a memorandum order was issued to Antique Provincial Tourism Officer Jose Ramlo Villaluna on Monday to lead the inventory and transfer of the memorabilia of Javier, who is considered a hero of the province.

“The contractor is asking for the transfer of the memorabilia so they could already start the work,” Denosta said.

He said that the Javier memorabilia is the last to be transferred after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members moved their offices temporarily last February 1 to a rented building here so they could continue to perform their official duties and hold their regular sessions on Thursdays.

The rehabilitation work at the old capitol has been funded with PHP50 million by the Department of Public Works and Highways upon the request of the Antique SP through Senator Loren Legarda who led the groundbreaking here last January 10.

“The old capitol after its retrofitting will be used as museum, library and archives,” Denosta said.

He added that there is another PHP50 million allocated for the construction of a three-storey legislative building at the back of the old capitol where the SP members will have their new session hall and offices after it is finished within the year.

The construction work for the new legislative building now has an estimated five percent accomplishment. (PNA)
