DASMARIǸAS CITY, Cavite – Mayor Elpidio Barzaga, Jr. has reminded parents of preschoolers in the city’s day care centers that collecting graduation fees is strictly prohibited.

Barzaga has issued the advisory over the weekend as the graduation season starts in March reminding all associations of day care parents they “are prohibited from agreeing among themselves to collect certain fees” related to the graduation rites of their children.

This is to ensure that the said prohibition covers any fee.

The mayor issued the reminder to ensure that the city’s daycare program remains expense-free for the public and accessible to everybody.

The city government shoulders all graduation-related expenses like the toga, medals, certificates, chairs and sound system.

Even the collection for graduation photo is prohibited, and parents were advised to use their own cellular phones or camera for the ceremonial photo-op.

Parents are likewise advised to provide their children with their own corsage/lei so that they need not pay as a form of contribution for the event.

The mayor issued the early advisory, in response to some parents’ complaints where some preschoolers were reportedly required to pay PHP 500 for their graduation framed photo, which most parents cannot afford to pay.

The mayor is ready to accept reports and complaints at anytime. (PNA)
