LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The Pangasinan Reformation Center (PRC) located in Barangay San Vicente, Burgos town is now open.
Governor Amado I. Espino III led the inauguration of the facility Tuesday morning, along with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Bryan Babang, Police Provincial Director Ronald Oliver and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim.
The center, which has an administrative office, quarters, kitchen mess hall, bathhouse, classroom and powerhouse facilities, can accommodate 100 to 150 reformed drug users or reformists at one time.
However, the first batch of reformists set to undergo two or three days of in-house training there on March 7 will only be 50.
The inauguration was also attended by former Burgos Vice Mayor Belen Cabiles and her son, lawyer Aldrin Cabiles, who donated the two-hectare lot where the multi-purpose facility now stands, and Burgos Mayor Alberto Guiang Jr.
Built at the cost of PHP12.9 million, the facility is intended primarily to provide a reformation program and activities for the youth, especially those who are engaged in illegal drugs, through spiritual transformation, knowledge enhancement, skills development and provision of livelihood opportunities.
Espino said the facility is a “dream come true” as he thanked the Cabiles family for their philanthropic deeds, selfless character and noble desire in donating the property.
The center is also open for youths engaged in other vices like alcohol abuse. (PNA)
