PNP chief's wife salutes policewomen at Women's Month salvo

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – The wife of Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Monday told participants in the  Women’s Month celebration here that she greatly admires all women in uniform in the national police organization.

The PNP chief’s wife, Nancy, was guest of honor and speaker at the kick-off ceremonies for the month-long observance of March as Women’s Month with this year’s theme, “We make change, Work for Women,” after the flag-raising in this regional police command headquarters.

As adviser of the PNP Officers Ladies Club, Mrs. Dela Rosa has recognized all the significant efforts and services rendered by every female police officer.

“I have high respects to all women especially to those in the police service. Your advocacy in maintaining the safety and security of our county are very commendable and inspiring,” she said.

Women’s Month is celebrated nationwide as part of the worldwide observance and marks a special International Women’s Day which falls on March 8 of every year.

The celebration highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to development and changes and aims to give due recognition to the contribution of the Filipino women in the society.

“Magtulungan po tayo para sa ika-uunlad ng ating bansa. Iwasan natin ang kompetensya sa bawat isa, dahil naniniwala ako na lahat tayo ay may kanya-kanyang kakayahan. Wala sa kasarian, kung ano ang kayang gawin  ng isang tao. (Let us work together for the country’s development. Let us avoid (destructive) competition, believing that all of us have each own capability. Every person’s capability is not based on gender). If we want change, we should start it in ourselves,” Dela Rosa added.

Leading the kick-off rites were the officers and members of the PNP National Headquarters (NHQ) and Police Regional Office (PRO-4A) Officer’s Ladies Club headed by Maria Rica Aplasca, wife of the Calabarzon Police Regional Didrector Chief Supt. Ma O R. Aplasca; NAPOLCOM representatives; Command Group and all female personnel of the Calabarzon regional police units.

 Women officials in the police service were also presented awards for their exemplary performance in the conduct of their police duties.

Awarded the “Medalya ng Kasanayan” was Police Supt. Janet Lumabao Arinabo of the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO), member of Special Investigation Task Group “Gamos” that conducted in-depth investigation on the Gamos wife and daughter murder cases and alleged robbery with homicide incident.

The special police operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect Ruel Galban Cabatingan on December 29, 2017.

 “Medalya ng Papuri” recipients included SPO1 Sheryl Delos Santos Panambo of Liliw Municipal Police Station (MPS) of the Laguna PPO; PO1 Hannah Joharah Maranan Tagle of Malvar MPS, Batangas PPO; PO1 Jeanmenel Andal Jordan of Lucena City Police Station (CPS), Quezon PPO; SPO3 Ma. Felicar Noveleta of Cavite PPO;

SPO1 Sandra Cruz Cordova from the Regional Police Headquarters; SPO1 Catherine Silava Tagura of Laguna PPO; PO2 Imelda Almanza Villapando of the Regional Mobile Force Batallion 4A; PO1 Crisel Marquez Dela Peña of Batangas PPO and PO1 Marjorie Siriban Pablo of Rizal PPO.

Francia B. Malabanan, officer-in-charge of the Lucena City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) received the Certificate of Appreciation for her contributions on the accomplishments of Community Mobilization Program, Simula at Pag-asa (SiPag) and Anti-Drug Campaign.

Mini Trade Fair Booths were also put up by the different Police Provincial Offices in the region which exhibited their provinces’ special delicacies and products.

The Cavite PPO bagged the “Best Booth” with cash prize of PHP 12,000; second prize for Quezon PPO with PHP 10,000 and Batangas PPO came in third with PHP 8,000.

The celebration also featured lectures on physical, emotional and spiritual wellness at the camp’s multipurpose center.

During the seminar, the discussions focused on cardiovascular diseases, proper nutrition, breast and cervical cancer detection, and moral recovery program.

Guest lecturers included Dr. Rocky Danilo Wills; Dr. Ma. Julma Castence; Michelle P. Andoy and Pastor Bernie F. Fontabla. (PNA)
