DAGUPAN CITY -- The Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office in Pangasinan will start building a beachside boardwalk in Bonuan Tondaligan here on the third week of April.

“Scope of work includes filling of fish ponds, which will be traversed by the construction of roads and bank protection,” District Engineer Rodolfo Dion said in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Friday.

Dion said the boardwalk will be built with a bicycle lane, and its length might vary depending on field condition.

The Department of Tourism has allocated PHP75 million for the project at the request of Pangasinan 4th District Rep. Christopher de Venecia, he said.

For her part, Mayor Belen Fernandez said the boardwalk project will start where the giant “jackstones” are located and end at the site of the soon-to-be built McArthur Park, where the statue of General Douglas McArthur will rise.

Meanwhile, the boardwalk project is scheduled for bidding on March 28. (PNA)
