P1-M ‘shabu’ seized in Davao

DAVAO CITY – Drug enforcement authorities seized more than PHP1-million peso worth of "shabu" from two drug suspects who introduced themselves as members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

The operation was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) inside a motel in Cabaguio Ave., Barangay W. Aquino, Agdao on late Thursday afternoon.

Antonio Rivera, Director of PDEA 11, identified the arrested suspects as Cader Macasasa Macud alias Kadir/Cader, 26, single, businessman, resident of Narra St., Purok 4F Banana Extension, Bermudez Compound, Apokon, Tagum City; and Arsalic Liminio Gamba, 23, single, college student, resident of Narra St., Purok 4F Banana Extension, Bermudez Compound, Apopong, Tagum City.

Based on a report reaching PDEA, Rivera said an alias “Kadir” was peddling illegal drugs “shabu” in said place.

They were also further informed that the subject person is also a member of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Rivera said he then sent the Police Station 1’s Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) composed of SPO1 Niones, PO2 Manligoy, PO2 Cameros, PO2 Ponteras, PO2 Torreon, PO1 Protacio and a team from PDEA 11 to conduct the drug buy-bust operation.

The suspects were arrested at around 5:35 p.m. inside Room #20 of Davao Motel located along Cabaguio Ave., Brgy. W. Aquino, Agdao. They were arrested after a PDEA agent purchased one rectangular sachet of shabu in exchange of PHP1,000 buy-bust money placed on top of thirty nine (39) pieces 1,000-peso bills boodle money.

Upon frisking, the PDEA agent confiscated other pieces of evidence composed of one big sachet, three rectangular sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, one piece big red pouch, one unit blue Nokia cellular phone, identification card of alias Kadir indicating his membership with MNLF, and personal money amounting to PHP850.

PDEA said the confiscated drug items have a street value of PHP1,440,000 with an estimated weight of around 120 grams.

Rivera said the suspects were considered arme high value targets.

On Wednesday night, an alleged registered nurse was also arrested by PDEA 11 agents and Sta. Ana police led by Chief. Insp. Nolan Raquid in a buy-bust operation conducted on Lacson Street in Bo. Obrero. Rivera identified the suspect as Dominic Dacayo, a registered nurse assigned at Saint Elizabeth Doctors Hospital, General Santos City.

The confiscated items were more or less 2.4 grams of shabu worth PHP12,000.

The suspects are now detained awaiting the filing of appropriate case of violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). (Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
