ILOILO CITY -- A PHP75-million bulk water supply facility will soon operate in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

In an interview Thursday afternoon, Remus Braganza, general manager of the Dumangas-Barotac Nuevo Water District (DBNW), said they expect the facility to be completed next month.

It is being constructed through a Public Private Partnership with the Castan Corporation.

Braganza said the facility, which is located in Barangay Salihid, Barotac Nuevo, has a daily capacity of 10,000 cubic meters of water.

“This could supply all the water requirements of Dumangas and Barotac Nuevo,” he said.

He added that it could also supply water to new relocation sites in these towns where more than 7,600 houses are being constructed by the National Housing Authority (NHA) for Super Typhoon Yolanda survivors.

The water district is currently servicing 5,000 active concessionaires.

He, however, said they are expecting the increase in number of concessionaires once the new relocation sites start accommodating beneficiaries and future developments in the two towns.

“That is why we have look forward to facilities in place in order to address the future demands,” he said.

The water district has a current capacity of 5,000 cubic meters a day. (PNA)
