CEBU CITY -- The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) is offering a PHP3,000 discount to new service connection applicants in the cities of Cebu and Talisay on March 24.

The promo is offered in observance of World Water Day 2018, MCWD spokesperson Charmaine Rodriguez-Kara said Friday.

Kara said the promo is exclusive to new service connection applicants from barangays Tangke and San Roque in Talisay and barangays Inayawan, Cogon Pardo, Poblacion Pardo, Quiot, Kinasang-an, Basak Pardo, Basak San Nicolas, Duljo-Fatima, Sawang Calero, Suba, and Pasil in Cebu City.

The one-day promo will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Robinsons Galleria, where applicants only need to pay PHP1,950, instead of the PHP4,950 installation fee.

Applicants will also be given a zero-down payment privilege. Normally, a PHP1,500 down payment is required from an applicant for a new service connection.

Kara said applicants need to bring a photocopy of their valid government-issued ID card and fill out the application form and other documents.

Once the application is approved, the MCWD will schedule an inspection of the applicant’s residence and nearby water service line available.

No fee will be collected on Saturday as applicants can pay the discounted new service connection fee at the MCWD office on Magallanes St. and Lapu-Lapu St. later. Notarial services will be free as well.

The beneficiary barangays were picked by MCWD’s grant partners Vitens Evides International and Water for Life, which are both Dutch-funded organizations, based on the availability of service lines in their areas and the concentration of residents not connected to MCWD.
World Water Day was marked on March 22 themed “Nature for Water”. (PNA)
