CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Crime rate in Central Luzon went down by 36.19 percent in the first two and a half months of the year as a result of the intensified campaign against criminality and illegal drugs.
Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, director of the Police Regional Office 3, said the implementation of enhanced managing police operations and the resumption of Project Double Barrel helped significantly in the improvement of the peace and order situation in the region.
Data from PRO3 showed that from January 1 to March 18, this year, the number of recorded incidents on eight focused crimes was 1,342 as compared to 2,103 in the same period last year.
The eight focused crimes are murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, rape, motorcycles, and motor vehicles motornapping.
Crime clearance efficiency increased by 70.86 percent while crime solution efficiency increased by 48.36 percent.
Police provincial offices in Central Luzon with the highest percentage decrease of crime incidents are: Bataan (48.21%); Nueva Ecija (43.31%); Olongapo City (42.19%); Angeles City (39.90%); Pampanga (37.02%); Tarlac (35.93%); Bulacan (30.57%); and Zambales (22.22%).
“This significant decrease in focus and prevalent crimes can be attributed to our intensified anti-criminality measures, particularly on motorcycle-riding suspects and our resumed anti-drug campaign and the community's support and involvement in our crime prevention and control efforts," Corpus said.
