MANILA -- The trough of Tropical Storm "Jelawat" (international name) will bring rains over the regions of Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 24-hour weather bulletin, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over these areas.

It said the weather formation had not entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) yet, but cautioned of possible flooding or landslides caused by light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.

Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the northeast monsoon.

The northeast monsoon or "hanging amihan" brings cold winds from Siberia, Russia.

The rest of the Philippines will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by local thunderstorms.

Rough to very rough coastal waters pushed by strong to gale force winds will also transpire in southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Other areas will have moderate to rough coastal waters caused by moderate to strong winds.

PAGASA weather specialist Shelly Ignacio, based on the latest weather forecast, said Tropical Storm "Jelawat" was last spotted 1,120 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. (PNA)
