Batangas 'Most Outstanding Women Councils' bared

BATANGAS OUTSTANDING WOMEN. BATANGAS CITY - The Municipal Women’s Coordinating Council (MWCC) of the town of Cuenca bagged the “Most Outstanding Women’s Coordinating Council” in the province.

Also adjudged “Most Outstanding District Women Coordinating Council” is the province's 4th District composed of the towns of Ibaan, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Jose, San Juan, and Taysan.

Governor Hermilando Mandanas congratulated the winners and the women sector as he underscored their vital roles in the society and on gender equity as he reflected on this year’s “Women’s Month” theme “We Make Change Work for Women” at the huge gathering on March 23 at the Provincial Capitol auditorium here.

Mandanas also cited the immense contributions of women officials and workers to the development of the province along with the various undertakings of the lead organizers from the Provincial Women Coordinating Council Batangas Inc. (PWCCBI).

He also presented plaques of recognition and the huge ceremonial checks to the other winners of the competition: Cuenca MWCC received PHP200,000; Agoncillo MWCC as 2nd Placer with PHP 100,000; Taysan MWCC, 3rd Place with PHP 50,000; and the Lobo and Padre Garcia which tied as 4th Placers with PHP 25,000 each.

The provincial government also honored Edilee Omoyan, owner of the Milea Bee Farm as an “Inspiring Filipina Awardee in Business.”

Joining Mandanas at the “Women’s Month” celebration in the province were his wife lawyer Gina Reyes-Mandanas, who chairs the Provincial Women Coordinating Council Batangas Inc. (PWCCBI); Vice Governor Nas Ona; Senior Board Member Wheng Africa as chairperson of Committee on Women, Family and Social Welfare and Development; and other Provincial Board Members, including Bart Blanco, Claudette Ambida–Alday, Jun- Jun Rosales, Fred Corona, Arlina Magboo and Divina Balba.

Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women president Myrna Yao; Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-4A officer-in-charge Director Annie Mendoza; and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) head Jocelyn R. Montalbo, also graced the occasion
The women’s month gathering also featured speakers who tackled various issues and concerns and the challenges facing the women’s sector. (PNA)
