Brand-new car stolen on Holy Monday

CABUYAO CITY, Laguna – A 40 year-old businesswoman lost her car while it was parked unattended at the Hongkong Village in Barangay Banay-Banay, this city on March 26.

Police Senior Inspector Gerry L. Sangalang, chief of the Laguna police provincial public information office, told the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday that the city police is conducting its follow-up operation and flash alarm among Laguna’s police units for the possible identification and apprehension of the suspect and recovery of the stolen car.

Sangalang said the city police station identified the car owner as Neli Masongsong Rioflorido, a Hongkong Village resident who reported the incident to the police 5:20 p.m. Monday.

In a police blotter report at the Cabuyao police station, Rioflorido said her vehicle is a Toyota Wigo color metallic silver, Model 2018 with a Conduction Sticker A4-T663, engine number #1KRA438835, and chassis number #MHKA4DFSFJJ013097.

Police investigation disclosed that Rioflorido learned about her missing car through her brother Reynaldo Bayabayan.

CCTV footage installed at the guard house showed that the vehicle was taken by an unidentified male person wearing white long sleeve and black pants around 6:40 a.m. on Holy Monday.

A CCTV playback further revealed that prior to the incident the suspect was seen walking alone inside the village and was later seen removing the car cover.

It was also shown on CCTV that the carnap suspect easily opened the car’s front door and later drove the stolen car towards the National Highway in Barangay Pulo area .

Police investigators also disclosed that the victim left the car’s duplicate key and all car documents inside the console box.

Investigators also conducted their ocular inspection at the crime scene and discovered that that the unattended vehicle was parked approximately 70 meters away from the guard house of the subdivision.

Sangalang said investigation is ongoing. (PNA)
