LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Small vegetable farmers in Cabiten, Mankayan town, Benguet province now stand to benefit from the recent completion of the PHP20-million Cabiten-Kamantakki road project under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (Pamana) road program of the Department of Interior and Local Government in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DILG-Cordillera).

Engineer Caesar Wacay of the provincial’engineering office, the implementing agency and in-charge of the project, said on Wednesday it had completed the concreting of 2,212 meters or more than two kilometers of the Cabiten-Kamantakki road project.

Wacay said the fund was sourced from the Pamana program of the DILG.

Pamana is the government’s flagship program for peace and development which aims, among others, to improve socio-economic conditions in “NPA infested areas.” It also focuses on development programs for isolated and hard-to-reach areas.

Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso led other government officials in a simple turn-over ceremony held last Monday (March 26) in Mankayan.

The Pamana program is being implemented by 11 national government agencies, namely: DILG, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Social Welfare and Development , Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Public Works and Highways , Department of Agriculture, National Electrification Administration, Department of Energy , National Commission on Indigenous People, PhilHealth, and Commission on Higher Education, in partnership with the concerned local government units.
