ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Government agents arrested a village official and a member of a drug syndicate in separate anti-drug operations in Region 9, a PDEA official announced Wednesday.
Lyndon Aspacio, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional director, identified the arrested suspects as Abdulraup Akmad, 42, and Junifer Villaver, 39.
Aspacio said that Akmad is a councilor in the village of Poblacion, Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay and the concurrent chair of the Committee on Peace and Order, but is the number one target-listed drug personality of the police.
Aspacio said Villaver is a member of the Khebin Lim drug group operating in Dipolog City and nearby areas of Zamboanga del Norte province, including Ozamiz City.
Aspacio said Akmad was arrested in a buy-bust operation at around 1:55 p.m. Tuesday at sitio Maabi-abohon, Barangay Poblacion, Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay.
He said confiscated from Akmad’s possession were more or less 10 grams of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth PHP50,000 and PHP1,000 marked money.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Section 5 (Selling of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Aspacio said Villaver was arrested in a buy-bust operation two days ago at a pension house in Barangay Upper Turno, Dipolog City.
He said seized from Villaver’s possession were more or less 25 grams of suspected shabu packed in six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth PHP125,000, illegal drug paraphernalia, PHP500 marked money and PHP1,960 cash in different demoniations.
He said the suspect will be charged with violation of Section 5 (Selling of Illegal Drugs), Section 11(Possession of Illegal Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of RA 9165.
He said the separate drug buy-bust operations were jointly carried out by PDEA agents and policemen. (PNA)
