ILOILO CITY -- The Iloilo City government, through the Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO), has dedicated a hotline for the emergency needs of motorists this Lent.

Jeck Conlu, PSTMO head, said hotline ‎0920-2874634 was activated Wednesday and will be operational until Sunday.

He said the provision of the hotline is part of measures under “Oplan Semana Santa” to make sure that an office would answer distress calls this Holy Week.

Conlu, however, clarified that the operations will just be within Iloilo City.

He said they will have a “mobile command center” for faster response when the need arises.

One Avanza vehicle, four motorcycles and 17 personnel will man the mobile command center.

When calling or texting the hotline, motorists will also be referred to the proper office, such as the Philippine National Police or the Iloilo City Emergency Responder.

In the meantime, he urged drivers to always observe road courtesy and drive safely.

Since it is Holy Week, he said, less traffic is expected in the metropolis. (PNA)
