MANILA -- Runners looking for a different kind of summer run can now look forward to May 13 as Allianz PNB Life and Conquer Challenge Philippines introduce the Allianz Conquer Challenge.

The partnership between the Philippine arm of the world's leading insurer and the obstacle run company was launched on Friday at Allianz PNB Life's main office in Makati.

"It's another step we're taking in the Philippines," said Alex Grenz, Allianz PNB Life's chief operating officer.

On why Allianz PNB Life added obstacle racing to its list of sports advocacy, chief market management officer Gae Martinez said, "OCR (obstacle course racing) is like real life, because before you succeed, you have to hurdle obstacles."

The Allianz Conquer Challenge, the first of three races for the year, will take place at Vermosa in Imus, Cavite.

There will be a 7-km. and 3-km. adult races as well as a 1.5-km. race for kids. The next two events will be held in August and December.

The challenge is sanctioned by the Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation, the national sports association for OCR.

Registration is ongoing either online at goohrahna.com or offline at GNC stores in Trinoma, Glorietta, Alabang Town Center, and SM Megamall, Aura, and Mall of Asia. (PNA)
