LAOAG CITY --  In line with the Philippine National Police's (PNP) modernization program, a two-storey building will soon rise in Piddig town to house its men in uniform.

In a ground breaking ceremony held on Thursday, town mayor Georgina Guillen said the people of Piddig is grateful for having the new police station to promote better performance from the local police force.

Former town mayor Eduardo Guillen, who is the current municipal consultant, said “It’s long due but the wait is over and we will be having our new police station here.”

A 400-square-meter lot Located at the southern part of the municipal hall was donated by the Piddig local government for the construction of the new PHP5-million municipal police station.

The municipal government will provide a PHP1 million counterpart fund.

The old police station in Piddig has long been dilapidated and it has no jail. The town police still need to go to neighboring police stations to accommodate prisoners.
