ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of Health (DOH) has advised the public to adopt measures to protect them from diseases that are prevalent during summer season.
The advise of the DOH came two days after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) declared that the summer season has started.
Dr. Katrina Ladjahon, non-communicable disease medical coordinator of the City Health Office, said in a media forum on Thursday that the summer diseases included sunburn, sore eyes, hypertension, and heat stroke.
Ladjahon disclosed that cases of sore eyes have increased in this city. No exact figures was available since most are being treated at home.
She said that exposure to the sun for more than three hours with scanty clothes will cause sunburn and heat stroke.
She advised the public to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water especially if their workplaces are exposed to the heat of the sun.
She said the public should also maintain a healthy diet. (PNA)
