BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan -- The Cagban Jetty Port will be the sole entry and exit point of Boracay Island starting April 26.

Other access points will be closed to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons and materials into the island, Senior Supt. Jesus Cambay, commander of the Metro Boracay Task Force, said in an interview on Thursday.

Local and foreign tourists will be prohibited from entering Boracay during the six-month temporary closure of the island to give way to its rehabilitation.

No one will be allowed to enter the following access points: Sitio Caliruhan, Sitio Malabunot, Sitio Tambisaan, Sitio Sugod, Sitio Tulubhan, Mangrove Area, Beachfront, Sitio Bulabog, Sitio Diniwid, West Cove, New Coast Cove, Puka Beach, and Bil-at Beach.

Cambay said police personnel have been assigned to secure the area, as well as entry points to the mainland, including the airport, Caticlan Port, Sambiray Cargo, and Tabon Port.

He said at least 610 police officers have been deployed to Boracay during the rehabilitation period.

This is just to ensure that no major incident happens during and after rehabilitation, Police Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas) Director Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorne Binag said, also on Thursday.

He likewise clarified that the civil disturbance management unit was merely brought to Boracay as part of their contingency plan in ensuring security in the island. (PNA)
