Election gun ban violator nabbed in NegOr

 DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental --  Police operatives in Negros Oriental arrested a man during a search at his residence on Wednesday night for allegedly violating the election gun ban.

A police report identified the suspect as Albert Garayan Amoreso, 28, resident of Barangay Elecia in La Libertad.

Policemen led by La Libertad police chief, Senior Insp. Romel Luga, nabbed Amoreso and seized from him a caliber .357 revolver with two live ammunition.

The suspect allegedly did not have license and other pertinent documents for legal possession of the firearm and ammunition.

The search was conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Mario Trinidad of the Regional Trial Court Branch 64 in neighboring Guihulngan City.
 
Appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, are being readied against the suspect.
 
The Comelec gun ban was implemented April 14 in the wake of the May 14 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. (PNA)
