16 women rescued from GenSan night club

GENERAL SANTOS CITY--Police operatives rescued 16 women in a raid at an entertainment establishment here Wednesday evening.

Elements from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s special operations unit stormed Cowgirl Bikini and KTV Bar along the national highway in Barangay Lagao at past 11 p.m. over reports that it stages nude shows.

Senior Police Officer 1 Pablo Jugos, team leader of the operating unit, said Thursday they caught a female entertainer in the act of performing a nude act onstage during the operation.

Jugos said they rounded up found 15 more women who were reportedly offered to customers for lewd shows.

He said they arrested a Korean national identified as Seok Choi, the owner of the establishment and the alleged handler of the rescued women.

Prior to the raid, he said they received numerous reports from concerned citizens about the indecent shows at the bar. A series of surveillance operations confirmed the illegal activities, he added.

Jugos said they coordinated with the city government and other concerned agencies to assist the rescued women.

He said Choi, who is currently in the custody of the CIDG unit here, would be charged for violation of Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012. (PNA)
