ORION, Bataan — Only a handful of candidates in Bataan for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on May 14, 2018 availed of the last minute filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Friday.
Most of the municipal offices of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) had only few filers on Friday (April 20), the last day of filing of CoC, which the poll body extended until Saturday, April, 21.
“There were many filers last April 18 which reached to 200 the number of COCs that we received,” election officer Arsenia Bondoc of Orion said.
Most of those who filed their COCa on Friday were candidates for the SK.
There are eight slots for the barangay and also eight slots for the SK in each barangay – a chairman and seven kagawad.
Bataan has 236 barangays in 11 towns and a city. (PNA)
