CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City -- Combined teams from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the police Highway Patrol Group (HPG), both based in the Calabarzon provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, undertook a refresher course and review on existing traffic code and related laws, rules and regulations.
Supt. Peter Dionisio, Calabarzon Highway Patrol Group (HPG 4-A) chief, said the day-long orientation and deputation training seminar-workshop held in Balete, Batangas last April 18 gathered various law enforcement agencies that deal with the implementation of traffic rules and regulations and deputized transportation regulation officers from the region.
Dionisio said the workshop aims to refresh and update their personnel on existing traffic code, related laws and implementing rules and regulations that are currently enforced.
Topics covered were: Driver's Licensing and Motor Vehicle Registration, The Philippine Clean Air Act, Seat Belt Use Act of 1999, The Motor Vehicle Road User's Charge Law, Anti-Overloading Act, Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013, Motorcycle Helmet Act of 1999, Children's Safety on Motorcycle Act of 2015.
Clarissa Sulit, chief of Operations Division of LTO 4-A, said the seminar-workshop would re-tool and capacitate their enforcers to implement salient features of the country’s traffic and special laws.
Among them are the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, Road Speed Limiter Act of 2016, Public Service Act and guidelines and procedures on law enforcement and traffic adjudication systems. (Roselle Aquino/PNA)
