MANILA -- Local real estate firm ArthaLand Corporation has partnered with global game development company Unity Technologies to open Creator Center of Excellence in the country that aims to equip Filipinos with technological skills.

The first Creator Center of Excellence facility is located at the ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower in Bonifacio Global City.

With the Creator Center of Excellence, Unity will be giving a six-month Professional Developer Program with specialization in 2D, 3D, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) production.

ArthaLand treasurer and executive vice president Leonardo Arthur Po said the partnership with the tech firm is a key strategic initiative as the company is embarking on integrating new technologies in its development projects.

“First of all we’re integrating their technology in our projects in a way of 3D visualization and virtual reality for our developments. And we’re currently working with an international developer on launching our first VR experience first in Cebu Exchange Tower,” Po said in interview Friday.

Po added that aside from integrating Unity’s tech expertise in its business, the company aims to share new technological skills to Filipinos particularly those in the business process outsourcing (BPO).

“Business process outsourcing is one of the pillars of the economy and one of the drivers of the real estate industry. It is, however, being disrupted by vast changing evolution of technology,” the ArthaLand executive noted.

“So with the rise of artificial intelligence and automation, the country needs to create new job opportunities for creative and higher value experiences that cannot be easily replicated,” he said.

By elevating the technology-related skills of Filipinos, Po noted that the BPO industry will be able to thrive “in this age of hyper-innovation”.

“By increasing the number of high quality and level development in the Philippines, and by enriching the local development community through the Center of Excellence, this will lead to more demand for real estate space. We see this really as synergistic approach that will hopefully create a virtual cycle,” said Po.

“We, in ArthaLand, recognized the need to future-proof the Filipino workforce by providing them with new skills to compete in the global market,” he added.

On the other hand, Unity Technologies Asia Pacific President Hubert Larenaudie said the company is keen in supporting the local creative industry in the Philippines.

“By partnering with ArthaLand Corporation in establishing this Creator Center of Excellence, we look forward to enabling local talent to find success, by providing them with better access to our tools,” said Larenaudie.

He added that Unity is increasing its presence in the Philippines through the Creator Center of Excellence.

“We are, for the first time, moving officially to the Philippines with this partnership we are forming with ArthaLand. We are forming this partnership because we believe in creativity innovation, and we believe the Philippines is very important country for that,” the Unity executive said.

Currently, Unity has 65,000 subscribers in the Philippines on gaming as well as using its tools in gaming and non-gaming development sectors.

The company is one of the most widely-used real-time 3D development platform worldwide. Its games and experiences were installed more than 24 billion times, with over three billion devices reached in the past 12 months. (PNA)
