LLANERA, Nueva Ecija -- An inter-agency convergence Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) program was launched Monday in this agricultural municipality as part of the Duterte administration’s resolve to improve the lives of people, particularly those in the community level.

The government agencies closely involved in this first ever launch of TNK program here are the Municipal Government of Llanera; Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

Brigida Pili, DTI provincial director for Nueva Ecija, said the government aims to generate livelihood opportunities through job creation in all types of businesses, including tourism.

“The core of the program is to empower the marginalized sector of the society by providing them job and livelihood opportunities,” Pili said.

To sustain the implementation of the program, a declaration of commitment was signed as led by guest speaker Senator Cynthia Villar, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food.

Other signatories were Pili DOLE provincial Director Maylene Evangelista, Mayor Ronnie Roy Pascual, and Regional Director Julie Daquioag of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Central Luzon.

Former 2nd District Board Member Joseph Ortiz represented Governor Czarina Umali in the event.

In the commitment, the parties "resolve work in partnership with the local government units to increase incomes by creating more decent jobs and promote entrepreneurship in the localities."

"Recognizing that the local government units know best the challenges in their respective areas, we resolve to adopt a localized approach to employment generation and entrepreneurship promotion," the signed document read.  (PNA)
