DAVAO CITY -- The interior designers participating in the construction exposition in Davao will showcase their Bakwit Project, an emergency kit that can be set up immediately during calamities and disasters.

Jon Richmond Ang, the marketing director of Worldbex Service International, said at Wednesday’s Habi at Kape that the Bakwit Project is an all-Filipino design that promises to "make life easier for everyone."

Ang said the Bakwit Project is one of the showcases in the upcoming Philippine Building Construction Expo (Philbex) and the Travel and Leisure Expo (TLEX) on May 10 to 13 at the SMX Convention Center where construction companies from Singapore, Taiwan, China, and Thailand will be joining.

Ang said this will be the first time that big international companies from the ASEAN region are joining the back-to-back event which will also be graced by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, the tourism official of the Thailand Embassy, airline companies, among others.

Ang said the Philbex and the Philippine Institute of Interior Design (PIID) is also hosting a forum to open an insightful dialogue among industry practitioners about the latest trends and issues concerning the industry.

"Through the talk show, the PIID hopes to promote its philosophy of meaningful and innovative design among the region's practicing and aspiring interior designers and architects amid the unique and comprehensive trade show here in Davao," he said.

Ang said PIID will also tackle how interior designing evolves in the region, while at the same time promote advocacies on designs as a science and a skill.

Among the interior designers joining the event are from Mindanao, Cebu, Negros, Panay and from other places in Eastern Visayas.

He said that for the travel and leisure expo, airline companies are aggressively promoting their new routes, mostly international destinations. (Digna D. Banzon/PNA)
