MANILA -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday it has transferred custody of suspected drug lord Reynaldo Parojinog Jr. to the Quezon City Jail.

Parojinog's transfer of detention came following a commitment order dated May 9, 2018, issued by Judge Nadine Jessica Corazon Fama of QC Regional Trial Court Branch 79.

PNP spokesperson, Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, said Parajinog had been transferred to the QC jail from the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame at about 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Parojinog Jr. is the son of Ozamis City Mayor Reynaldo "Aldong" Parojinog who was killed along with his wife Susan and 13 others in a police raid in Barangay San Roque, Ozamis City, last July 30, 2017.

The raid yielded a substantial amount of illegal drugs and an armory of firearms.

Parojinog Jr. was placed under temporary custody of the PNP pending the completion of the preliminary investigation of the charges against him.

The court issued the commitment order, directing his transfer to the QC jail after the preliminary investigation was completed and the case was filed against him.

Citing security concerns, the Department of Justice last year requested the Supreme Court to hear the cases against Parojinog in Quezon City instead of conducting the trial in Ozamis. (PNA)
