BATANGAS CITY, Batangas – The provincial government of Batangas has conducted a three-day orientation and career coaching to some 195 students who qualified under the Special Program for Employment of Students, or SPES.

Batangas Public Information Office Chief Jenelyn A. Aguilera disclosed Friday that the orientation and coaching sessions from May 7 to 9 at the Provincial Auditorium of the Capitol Compound here were conducted in three batches by the Provincial Assistance for Community Development Office (PACDO) – Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Division,.

Participants included Batangas High School for Culture and Arts (BHSCA) students, sons and daughters of local government employees in casual/job order status, and other students who qualified under the SPES.

Resource speakers include PESO Coordinator Dr. Razel M. Ingco;, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Batangas Labor Employment Officer III Jose Roseller Castillo; and Provincial Assistance for Community Development Office Assistant Head Diosdado Macalintal.

Ingco provided an overview of the SPES, a government program designed to help poor but deserving students with their educational needs by providing employment opportunities during summer and school breaks.

Under the program, qualified/employed students will get PHP 11,950 as salary under a pay-sharing scheme with DOLE for the 40% while the provincial government covers the remaining 60%.

Ingco likewise discussed the screening process and needed requirements under the program.

Castillo, on the other hand, imparted career coaching, specifically on the needed skills and the right work attitude that will aid SPES qualifiers with their work.

For his part, Macalintal highlighted the personal gains of being employed, or to be part of an organization or an employment firm.

He advised participants to give their best, as this opportunity will financially assist them in their studies and their family’s needs. (PNA)
