Cops arrest Batangas most wanted person

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna-Operatives of the newly activated police Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) arrested the number 1 most wanted person (MWP) of Batangas province after an exchange of gun fire in General Trias, Cavite Saturday.

Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon Director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar in a viber message, said that suspect Romnick Zuñiga Reyes shot it out with elements of RSOU and General Trias Municipal Police Station during the serving of a warrant of arrest (WOA) at Barangay Buenavista 3, General Trias town.

Reyes eluded arrest by fleeing towards the nearby Barangay Hall where he was eventually cornered with a gun shot wound on his abdomen and was immediately brought by barangay officials and police operatives at the Gentri Medical Center for treatment.

Eleazar said that Reyes has four pending warrants of arrests from Lemery, Batangas, two for homicide and two for robbery.

In a follow up report from Lemery Municipal Police Station, it was revealed that Reyes was convicted of homicide in Lipa City, Batangas and had served his sentence at the Muntinlupa penitentiary.

Upon his release from prison, the report disclosed that he robbed a computer shop and a rice retailer and faces two other cases of Homicide Under Investigation (HCUI).

A companion of Reyes, who was arrested on May 12, 2018, provided information on the suspect’s activities including the hold up robbery in Laurel, Batangas and Cavite province.

The informant revealed that Reyes is a gun for hire with PHP 40,000 asking price for liquidating ordinary person.

Likewise, the report revealed that Reyes was previously spotted in Lemery town but eluded arrest by swimming into the river after exchanging gun fire with cops. (PNA)
