Cavite opens registration for June 12 cultural dance fest

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) enjoins talented Filipino Caviteños to join the Cultural Dance Group Competition, one of the activity highlights during the 120th Independence Day Celebration at Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo, Freedom Park in Kawit Town on June 12.

In an advisory released Thursday, the PTO is accepting groups, whose members are Filipino citizens residing in Cavite; and members at least 13 years-old and above.

Each group must have a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 dancers and the performance time should run for a maximum of 10 minutes.

Musical accompaniment must be in properly-labeled high-quality CD/flash drives and must be submitted upon registration.

Judging criteria include choreography & style , 35 percent; performance, 35 percent; costume, 15 percent; and overall impact, 15 percent.

Interested groups may register until June 1 (Friday), 12 noon and only the first 10 groups to register will be accommodated.

During the competition event, all contestants should be at the Museo ni Aguinaldo, Kawit, Cavite by 1 p.m. and the sequence of the competitor’s performance will be drawn by lot in the order of their presentation.

All winning groups will receive cash prizes and trophies.

The PTO, in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), is lining up a series of events as the country commemorates the 120th anniversary of the declaration of the country’s independence from Spanish colonizers in Kawit town on June 12, 1898.

Aside from the cultural group competition, other activities include the commemoration ceremonies, program, art exhibit, musical play and on-the-spot poster making contest. (PNA)
