MANILA -- Two low-pressure areas (LPAs) located along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) are expected to bring rains to the country on Saturday.

In a weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said there are two LPAs located along the ITCZ, which is a known breeding ground for typhoons.

One of the LPAs was spotted 380 kilometers west-northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, while the other LPA was located 635 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

According to the latest weather bulletin on Friday, the LPA near Palawan will bring cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms in the area.

PAGASA warned of possible floodings or landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains in the province.

Visayas and Mindanao, on the other hand, are forecast to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ.

PAGASA similarly cautioned of possible flooding or landslides brought by light to moderate rains in these areas.

Other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms.

Western Visayas and Palawan will have moderate to occasionally rough coastal waters caused by moderate to occasionally strong winds from the southwest to southeast.

Mindanao will have moderate to occasionally rough coastal waters brought by moderate to occasionally strong winds from the southwest to west.

Other areas will have slight to moderate coastal waters due to light to moderate winds blowing east to northeast.

The country will have a temperature range of 17-37°C until Tuesday.

On Friday, PAGASA recorded a peak temperature of 34.4°C and a minimum temperature of 26.6°C at the PAGASA weather station in Quezon City. (PNA)
