2 men die of electrocution while hunting frogs in Bukidnon

MALAYBALAY CITY – Two men believed to be hunting frogs for food were found dead in Purok 8, Barangay Tongan-Tongan, Valencia City, Bukidnon province on Friday.

The victims were identified as Cesar Somodivilla, 21, a rice mill operator and resident of Purok 3, Kimalok, Libertad, Misamis Oriental; and Isagani Teves, 37, a resident of Zone 1, Busco, Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon.

A concerned citizen, identified as JR Mangubat, informed the Valencia City Police about the dead bodies found beside the Ticoy rice pavement drier in Tongan-Tongan village.

Initial police investigation showed that the victims, who were found by residents at about 7:30 a.m. Friday, were electrocuted by an extension cable grounded to a still post and tie wire beside the Ticoy pavement drier while hunting frogs.

Both victims suffered burns, Somodivilla on his left wrist and Teves on the back of his knee.

Police recovered from the possession of Somodivilla a red flash light and about 50 live frogs inside a sack.

Meanwhile, police recovered a wallet, a lighter, garlic, and two onions from the pocket of Teves. (PNA)
