BATANGAS CITY, Batangas – Nine Batangas district hospitals (DH), including the provincial disaster team boost their response capabilities during emergencies and disasters as they receive ambulance vehicles from the provincial government.

Batangas Public Information Office Jenelyn A. Aguilera said Monday that nine of the medical vehicles were given to the DHs of Cuenca, San Juan, Nasugbu, Rosario, Lipa City, Tanauan City, Balayan, Lemery, and San Jose; while another went to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

These (vehicles) will also help in the local government units’ relief operations, transfer of patients to other hospitals and in responding to the other medical needs of the local government units' (LGU) villages, Aguilera adds.

Aside from the medical vehicles, the provincial government, through its various health programs, have also embarked on medical equipment distribution, as well as building up the capacity and number of its medical personnel in the past.

Aguilera also shared Batangas Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas' plans to allocate the needed funds to ensure that all villages in the province's LGUs have their own medical, ambulance vehicle.

Provincial Health Office officials, led by Dr. Rosvilinda Ozaeta, Chiefs of beneficiary DHs, and PDRRMO officials and staff headed by Joselito Castro attended the vehicle turnover rites held at the Provincial Capitol Grounds on June 1.

Others who supported the event include Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Jocelyn Montalbo and members of the Association of Barangay Captains of Batangas. (PNA)
