ILOILO CITY - - Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. on Monday warned employees of the provincial government to avoid being absent every Monday’s flag-raising ceremony.

He reiterated his call during the Monday’s flag-raising activity at the parking area of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

In a follow up interview, Defensor said he has noticed that there are employees who are consistently absent during the flag-raising.

He said they will be putting up a bulletin board, where the names of absentees during the flag-raising ceremony will be posted.

Since the flag-raising is conducted every Monday, the names of those who fail to attend will be posted every Tuesday, he added.

“It will start next week,” he said.

Although Defensor does not have an idea how their attendance is being checked, he said that it is being monitored as part of their performance.

Last year, the governor has signed a memorandum for all department heads and employees to attend the flag-raising ceremony.

This he said, is in compliance to Republic Act 8491, otherwise known as the “Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines” and to the Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 19, series of 2012.

Failure to attend the ceremony constitutes violation of Section 46, Rule 10 of the Civil Service Commission Revised Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service, and violation of reasonable office rules and regulations that carries penalties. (PNA)
