Sibugay town has 2 new municipal council members

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay -- The Sangguniang Bayan of Kabasalan town, the oldest municipality of this province, has new members to replace two councilors – one of whom died this year.

They are Alfredo Chu and Fely Catane, who took their oath of office before Gov. Wilter Palma at the provincial capitol here on Monday afternoon.

Chu, a former mayor, filled in the position left vacant by Councilor Bejamin Palanas Sr., who has named to replace Vice Mayor Isagani Balladares, who succeeded Kabasalan Mayor George Cainglet.

Cainglet died of illness in April, this year.

Catane, 70, was chosen to replace her husband, Corregidor, who also died early this year.

Palma urged the new officials to work for the betterment of the municipality.

Kabasalan is a second class municipality consisting of 29 barangays with a population of 44,336 as of the 2015 census. (PNA)
