DOLE: Participating firms in June 12 job fairs not engaged in 'endo'

MANILA -- The Department of Labor and Employment on Wednesday (DOLE) assured that all employers that will participate in next week's Independence Day job and business fairs are not included on the list of firms engaged or suspected to be engaged in labor-only contracting (LOC).

In a press briefing, Undersecretary Jacinto Paras noted that they made sure the participating companies are not into endo” or “end of contract.”

“To be frank about it, we saw to it that they are not included in the event. They are employers who have not been perceived to have violated the law,” Paras said.

With this, the DOLE official reported that there are some 117,000 job vacancies in private and public sectors available in the event, to be held in 21 sites across the country next week, in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

“There are a total of 621 participating employers (501 local and 120 overseas) will be bringing with them 63,426 local and 53,636 overseas jobs,” he said.

The job and business fairs will be held in the following venues:

National Capital Region (NCR) – Senior Citizen’s Garden, Rizal Park, Manila

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) – Porta Vaga Mall Veranda, Baguio City

Region 1 – Nepo Mall, Dagupan City; Candon Civic Center, Candon City, Ilocos Sur; Pacoy Ortega Gymnasium, San Fernando City, La Union

Region 2 – Tuguegarao People’s Gym, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

Region 3 – Metro Town Mall, Tarlac City

Region 4A – Freedom Park, Kaingen, Kawit, Cavite; Sunstar Mall, Sta. Cruz, Laguna

MIMAROPA - Marinduque Convention Center, Boac, Marinduque

Region 5 – Ayala Mall, Legazpi City, Albay

Region 6 – 888 China Town Square, Bacolod City

Region 7 – Negros Oriental Convention Center; Cebu City Sports Complex

Region 8 – Provincial Covered Court, Catbalogan City, Samar (June 15)

Region 9 – KCC Mall de Zamboanga, Gov. Camins Ave. Zamboanga City; Zamboanga del Norte Cultural Convention and Sports Center, Gen. Luna St., Dipolog City

Region 10 – Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technolgy Gymnasium, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte

Region 11 – Davao City Recreation Center (Almendras Gym), Talomo, Davao City

Region 12 – KCC Mall Convention Center, General Santos City

CARAGA – Provincial Capitol Training Center, Provincial Capitol Bldg., Butuan City (June 15)

Meanwhile, the government will be offering a total of 7,770 job vacancies, mostly in the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Navy, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The DOLE said that the local jobs with the most number of jobs available are Production Machine Operator, Officer and Enlisted Personnel (AFP, PNP, NAVY, BJMP), Construction Worker/Laborer, Customer Service Representative, Mason (Rough/Finishing), Carpenter (Rough/Finishing), Company Driver, Service Crew, Production Worker/Factory Worker, and Retail and Sales Agent.

On the other hand, the top available jobs for would-be overseas Filipino workers are Service Worker/Hotel Worker, Nurse, Engineer, General Labor/Technician, Labor Worker, Forecourt (Petrol Filler), Butcher (Supermarket), Sales Personnel, Hospital Worker, and Carpenter.

The countries of destination are Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia, Japan, Oman, and New Zealand.

The theme for this year’s event is, "Kalayaan 2018 Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan." (PNA)
