MANILA -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Wednesday bared its 2018-2019 "Career Ambassadors", who will showcase their achievements in technical vocational and educational training (TVET) via speaking engagements.

"As part of our National Career Guidance Advocacy Plan, we've been choosing our career ambassadors since 2014," TESDA executive director, Elmer Talavera, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Wednesday.

The 14 "Career Ambassadors" for 2018-2019 were already appointed about two weeks ago, although TESDA is still waiting for Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello's signature for their official appointment, Talavera said.

"It's because we do the National Career Guidance Advocacy Plan together with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)," he explained.

Talavera said aside from being champions in TVET, the chosen ambassadors were winners of TESDA Idol in the region, one of them a representative of ASEAN Skills Competition, and one was a finalist of TESDA's Tagsanay Award.

The ambassadors are required to appear in regional talks and forums that will be organized by TESDA, and other speaking engagements.

"There are regional activities, where they could speak. For example, there will be a Career Week in July," Talavera said.

The ambassadors will share their success stories and will inspire the youth to also choose a career in TVET.
