MANILA -- Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go on Sunday urged the police to intensify their anti-crime efforts amidst killings of some judiciary members.

In his speech before Tondo residents in Manila, Go urged the police to continue supporting President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's campaign against crime as he recalled the death of assistant special prosecutor Madonna Joy Tanyag of the Office of the Ombudsman.

"Yung buntis na ombudsman lawyer na napatay, kawawa naman ang mister niya na walang kamalay-malay na sinaksak ang asawa niya ng isang adik na wala sa pag-iisip (The pregnant ombudsman lawyer who was killed, the husband is pitiful because he didn't know that his wife was stabbed by an addict who's not in his right mind)," he said.

Go also urged parents to stay away from drugs and to focus on raising their children properly.

"Ang droga ay nakakaliit ng utak, please lang iwasan niyo ang droga, gamitin ang pera pambili ng pagkain at pamabaon ng mga anak ninyo at huwag ipambili ng droga please (Drugs can affect your mindset, please avoid drugs, use your money to buy food and snacks for your children and not to buy drugs, please)," he said.

Recognizing the difficulty of fighting drug-related crimes, Go commended the policemen for being disciplined and focused on Duterte's campaign against criminality and drugs.

"Meron ba kayong naramdaman kahit konting pagbabago sa peace and order dito sa lugar ninyo? Dati ang mga anak natin ay takot sa gabi sa mga adik at sa mga kriminal ngayon baliktad na dahil sa tulong ng ating mga kapulisan (Do you feel a change in the peace and order situation in your place? Before, our children are scared of addicts and criminals at night but not anymore because of our policemen), he said. (PNA)
