Mother of 2 drug suspects nabbed for trying to bribe cops

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- A woman was arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe personnel of Cabanatuan City Police Station in exchange of her two sons’ release over illegal drugs offense Tuesday.

In a report reaching the regional headquarters here, Francisca De Leon, 52, widow, businesswoman and resident of Purok Narra, Barangay Pamaldan, Cabanatuan City, reportedly offered PHP30,000 to police authorities for the release of her two sons identified as Mario De Leon and Eusebio De Leon, who were both arrested during buy-bust operation Tuesday.

Confiscated from the two drug suspects were three sachets of suspected shabu; illegal drugs paraphernalia; and PHP1,000 marked money.

Appropriate charges for violation of Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code (Corruption of Public Official) have been filed against the elder De Leon.

Her two sons were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“We are serious in our fight against illegal drugs. May this serve as a warning to everyone who attempts to bribe our personnel. We bear upon our shoulders the trust from the public to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to be fair and impartial. We will never be shaken,” said Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, director of the Police Regional Office 3 (Central Luzon). (PNA)
