Muslims in Bataan observe Eid’l Fit’r

BALANGA City, Bataan -- Muslims in Bataan observed on Friday Eid’l Fit’r, the conclusion of Ramadan, through prayers and lectures held in various communities like at the People’s Center here.

Sultan Abdullah Ampuan, 44, president of the Unity of Muslim Association in Bataan, said that after the activities in the center, most of the Muslims will prepare food in their houses and have family bonding while some will go outing.

“Kahilingan namin kay Allah, tanggapin sana niya ang pagsasakripisyo namin sa buong buwan ng Ramadan. Lahat ng ginawa naming pagdarasal maging kalugod-lugod kay Allah (Our wishes to Allah, may he accepts our sacrifices for the whole month of Ramadan. May all the prayers that we did be acceptable to him),” Ampuan said when asked what they asked Allah at the end of Ramadan.

He said there are over 1,000 Muslims in Balanga City and more than 3,000 in Bataan.

There are nine mosques located in Balanga City, Dinalupihan, Limay and Mariveles and a two-hectare cemetery for Muslims in Dinalupihan.

The Muslims came from Lanao del Sur (Maranao), Zamboanga (Tausog), and Cotabato (Maguindanao).

Most Muslims in Bataan came from Marawi City and engaged in business of selling various merchandise.

Ampuan, who resides in Balanga City for 25 years, is into selling of shoes and motor parts.

Asked to comment on what happened to Marawi as a result of the fighting between government forces and terrorists, Ampuan said the ISIS group made a big blunder. (PNA)
