TANZA, Cavite -- Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla has offered scholarships to qualified Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation presidents in the towns and cities of the province if they wish to pursue a master’s degree.

In a report on Friday, Remulla gave the assurance to “just tell me as the Office of the Governor will answer the school fees even in private schools.”

He also informed the new youth leaders that one of his priority projects is to establish a provincial telecommunications with a speed of 20 Mbps using fiber optic technology as private telecom firms have already forged agreements for internet connectivity in the province.

He recognized that the youth leaders also constitute the new breed of the “techie” generation who are adept at boosting local governance through modern use of the web-based technology and electronic communications.

The Cavite governor and Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito officiated last Wednesday the oath-taking rite of the newly elected officers of the Cavite Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Provincial Federation at the Aqua Mira Resort here.

Ejercito and Remulla congratulated the new breed of youth leaders who are expected to steer the provincial youth council and highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in governance at the local level as youth leaders assume their posts in local governance by noon on June 30.

"Napakahalagang bahagi ang gagampanan ng mga kabataang Caviteño sa pagsusulong ng progreso at kaayusan ng lalawigan. Hindi hadlang ang pagiging bata upang maging bahagi ng mga pagkilos tungo sa kaunlaran at pagsulong ng bawat bayan (The Caviteño youth leaders have a huge role to play towards achieving progress and good governance in the province. Being young is not a hindrance to be part in the development and growth of every town or city),” Ejercito said.

Remulla also welcomed SK provincial federation president-elect 21 year-old Rhyan Natanauan from Tagaytay City.
He bested other SK presidents from Cavite’s 23 towns and cities.

For being elected SK provincial president, Natanauan is automatically entitled to a seat in the Cavite Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislative council) as ex-officio Provincial Board member and represents the youth sector committee of the council.

He will be joining the provincial legislative council session at the Provincial Capitol session hall in Trece Martires City on July 2.

Other SK provincial federation officers are Jerome Gonzales from Dasmariñas City SK as vice-president; Patricia Roxas from Naic SK as secretary; Neil Magallanes from Maragondon as treasurer; Mac Espiritu from Bacoor City as public relations officers; Ayeen Bation from Silang as auditor; and Nathaniel Nuarin from General Mariano Alvarez as sergeant-at-arms.

Remulla also inducted into office some 829 elected Cavite village chiefs, including the 33 chairpersons of General Trias City at the Manila Jockey Club, San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.

Ejercito and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos also witnessed the oath-taking ceremony. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
