ZAMBOANGA CITY--Authorities killed two members of a crime syndicate and captured two others following a clash in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, a police official said Tuesday.
Chief Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, deputy regional director of Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga), said the fighting erupted in Sitio Sapah Bayol, Barangay Malambuhangin, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
De Ocampo identified the slain suspects as Ali Lumiguis and Ato Lumiguis, both members of the so-called Isnain Lumigis crime syndicate.
The group was involved in various crimes that included contract killing and robbery hold-ups, he said.
Meanwhile, those captured were identified as Attang Sabuddin and Hatta Orak. Both have pending criminal cases in court.
De Ocampo said the clash ensued when joint police and military forces launched a strike operation against the Lumigis crime group in Barangay Malambuhangin.
Three other members of the crime group fled, leaving behind the remains of their two slain companions and the two who were captured, he said. (PNA)
