MANILA -- Davao Aguilas went on a late second half surge to turn back Kaya Iloilo, 3-1, in their rain-delayed Philippines Football League match at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila on Wednesday night.

Davao got its breakthrough within the last 15 minutes of regulation as it forced a tie for second place with its victim.

Following the first half, which went for two hours due to the rain delay, that ended with a 1-all deadlock, Tyler Matas broke the tie in the 75th minute with a header from close range.

Phil Younghusband then took advantage of a midfielding lapse by Iloilo by picking the bad pass and going all the way for the 85th minute dagger.

Davao moved up to 23 points, although Iloilo, which owns the goal difference tiebreaker, has two matches at hand. (PNA)
